Campfires & Clues Reading Retreat

This Halloween weekend, escape to Muskoka for a retreat that’s equal parts cozy and thrilling. Think crackling fires, spine-tingling stories, and that delicious feeling of something just a little mysterious in the air. Our women’s-only reading retreat is the perfect getaway for book lovers who live for a twist ending and a little campfire suspense. Expect cozy cabins, autumn leaves, and a weekend full of connection, conversation, and just the right amount of eerie.

What should I expect?

Throughout the weekend, you'll have the opportunity to participate in various indoor and outdoor activities, such as book-related crafts and rock climbing. Join in as a guest for a murder mystery party, cozy up with a good book, enjoy delicious meals, browse our pop-up used bookshop, and connect with fellow mystery-loving readers. And yes, there will be nightly campfires... hopefully without any ghost sightings (no promises).

The Venue:

Come away with us to the 270-acre Muskoka haven, where lakefront serenity and outdoor fun meet literary passion. Explore scenic trails, cozy up by the campfire, and dive into great books with like-minded women. Kayak, hike, and play games by day; discuss books and share stories by night. Your perfect adult sleep-away camp experience awaits!

*Please note, alcohol and substances are NOT permitted at this venue.

What's included:

• Two nights shared accommodations - Sleeping arrangements are shared-cabin style (hello, nostalgic sleep-away camp vibes!) with bunk beds. You’ll need to bring your bedding and towels.

• Five meals, from dinner on Friday to breakfast on Sunday - We can accommodate most dietary specifications, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy-free. If you have concerns, please contact us BEFORE booking to allow us to verify.

• Book Club Book - Before the retreat, all participants will receive a physical copy by mail of Don't Let Him In by Lisa Jewell, a 2025 mystery thriller, which will be the topic of the book club session.

• Murder Mystery Party - Once registration closes, you'll be emailed more details on your character - feel free to bring a costume and/or props!

• Retreat Crewneck Sweater - Your new favourite sweater!

Once you've booked, you'll receive an email confirmation as well as a waiver form to sign to complete your registration. Shortly following the registration completion, you will receive a welcome package that includes the precise retreat location and approximate weekend schedule.
